Oct 31-Nov 1

Spent two days driving down through North and South Carolina to Savannah, GA. Tip was having golf withdrawal, so we were fortunate enough to spend Friday night at a campground with miniature golf. Then, our new campground in Savannah is right on a river--really looks pretty, but we thought we'd better ask about any dangerous critters we might find here.

The campground host told us that if we stayed away from the river, we wouldn't run into any cottonmouths, and since the weather had been cool, the copperheads wouldn't be very active. Tip asked about chiggers (they call them redbugs here), and the host said if we didn't get near the Spanish moss, we'd be okay. Also told us not to swim in the river because they have a lot of alligators here. So, we don't venture too far away from the motorhome. She also warned against letting small dogs run free because of the large owls which have been known to carry them off. A real inviting stopover! We went to old Savannah on a sight-seeing tour today (Sunday) which I'll post about later, but we're pretty anxious to move on away from this place!
